Chicago Bike Swap. Still looking for that one rare bike part or to sell off a bike or two? Head out to the Chicago Bike Swap next Saturday. The event will also feature demonstrations and games and even an after party at Goose Island Brew Pub. Proceeds from the bike swap benefit the nonprofit Active Transportation Alliance, Chicago Bike Winter and the Chainlink. For details on the event click here

Women’s Weekend at Ray’s Mtb. I just had my first trip to Ray’s a few days ago and I had a blast! There’s something for everyone and it’s a great place to gain confidence and build skills. Congratulations to Greta Neimanas for her second place finish at the 2012 UCI Para-Cycling Track World Championships! Greta is from Chicago and started racing her bike just a few short years ago. Groundhog’s day was just a few days ago and it seems there’s some debate about how much winter we have left this year. My bet’s on Woodstock Willie since his prediction is that Spring is on its way! Besides, we’ve been enjoying a very mild winter so far, which has been a real bonus for area cyclists. I’ve been commuting on my bike on a regular basis and have enjoyed every moment of the mild temps.
