Memorial Day Weekend

The unofficial start to summer is this weekend!  The weather couldn’t be more spectacular for any outdoor activity. Be sure to spend some quality time with friends and family- AND get out and ride! There are lots of choices from rides to races. Take a look below for all your options.

Sunday ride. This Sunday the group will head out on the Sister’s loop, which is 40 miles and will average 19mph. The ride will depart from HG Highland Park at 8AM.

Tuesday Women’s ride. This ride departs from HG Wilmette at 9:30AM. The 1.5 hour ride is split into groups based on ability.

Wednesday Women’s ride. Last week we tried the rotating paceline with great success. This week we’ll look to be even smoother and keep building our confidence and skill! Join this great group of ladies for a wonderful evening ride. The ride will depart from HG HP at 6:30PM, average 17mph for 23 miles.

Friday Women’s ride. This ride departs from HG Wilmette at 5:30AM for a 1 hour, 17mph ride.

Events:

Memorial Day Weekend Master’s Races. For those wanting to stay close to home, and are over 30, head out to Wood Dale for a full weekend of racing. For details click here

Memorial Weekend Races in the Quad Cities. This series starts off with a road race today for the men’s fields and continues on all weekend with some pretty intense courses and competition. For information on all the events click here

Bike the Drive Looking to get in a scenic ride at a leisurely pace? Head out to Bike the Drive and take in the scenery along Lake Shore Drive. Proceeds from the event go to the Active Transportation Alliance. For details on the event click here

Upcoming Events:

Lake Bluff Twilight Criterium. This race makes the weekend a one-two punch for crit riders. It’s a brand new race and the competition is sure to be tough. For details click here

Women’s Dirt Days Event #3. These mountain bike events are low key and lots of fun! Head out to Palos for a sweet change of pace. For details click here

Lake Geneva Road Race. This is a new road race, but it’s sure to be a hilly one.  There aren’t too many road races in the area, so don’t miss out. For race details click here

Glencoe Grand Prix. This tough and technical course is the stage for the Illinois State Criterium championships. It’ll be a full day of exciting racing. For details click here
