Happy Father’s Day

There’s no better time to be a cyclist than summertime in Chicago. This week was Bike to Work Week, which seemed better than ever this year. On my ride in to work today, I was greeted by representatives from Clif Bar and Naked Juice, who were passing out products – nice! Last night at the Northbrook Velodrome, the PACT Dish Network team sponsored a 100 lap points race for the men’s 1/2/3 field, which ended up being a great show! As we move towards the weekend, there’s still plenty of action with the Illinois State Road Race. Check the details below and make the most of your summer cycling opportunities.

Sunday. This Sunday’s ride route is the Mafia-Lite loop. The 50 mile loop takes you just shy of the Wisconsin border. The ride will depart from Higher Gear Highland Park at 8AM and average 19mph.

Tuesday Women’s ride. This ride departs from HG Wilmette at 9:30AM. The 1.5 hour ride is split into groups based on ability.

Wednesday Women’s ride. Our Wednesday ride focuses on bike handling and paceline skills! The ride departs from HG HP at 6:30PM and averages 17+mph for 23 miles.

Fredo’s Thursday Ride. Join Fredo on his fast paced Thursday evening ride. It departs from HG Wilmette at 5:30PM and will average 20+mph.

O’Fallon Grand Prix. This race series starts today with a time trial. Tomorrow’s road race is also the Illinois State Road Race Championship and Sunday will wrap things up with a criterium. The races are located in Southern Illinois, near St. Louis, so be sure to allow plenty of time to make it to the start of your race. For details on all the events click here

Chainlink Biking Semester: Racing 101. For all those curious about getting into bike racing, attend this informational clinic on Tuesday evening. For details click here

Tour of America’s Dairyland (ToAD) starts June 21 and runs through July 1. It’s a series of races throughout Wisconsin. It’s only been held for a few years, but has been gaining popularity because it’s a well-organized event. For a full schedule of races click here

Get out and enjoy this great summer weather!
