Tour de France

The Tour starts tomorrow and continues through July 22. The first stage is prologue (short time trial) in Liege, Belgium, followed by several sprinter-friendly stages. The real race for the yellow will begin in the mountains – that’s when the daily drama will keep us glued to our TV’s. Are you ready?? For details on this year’s event click here.
We won’t be riding in the Tour, but most of us have some riding goals for the season. Check below for a list of rides and races in our area. Have fun!

Sunday ride. This Sunday’s loop is the Mafia Lite. The route is 61 miles (not 50 as I once listed). The ride will depart at 8AM from Higher Gear Highland Park and average 19mph.
Tuesday Women’s ride. This ride departs from HG Wilmette at 9:30AM. The 1.5 hour ride is split into groups based on ability.
Wednesday Women’s ride. This Wednesday is the 4th of July, so there will be no ride. Join us the following week for another round of paceline skills & great conversation.
Fredo’s Ride. Join Fredo on a fast paced group ride each Thursday night during the summer. The ride departs from HG Wilmette at 5:30PM and averages 20+mph.

Tour of America’s Dairyland (ToAD). The racing series continues this weekend with two heavy-hitter courses. Saturday is Downer Ave in Milwaukee, which is a classic course. Up until a few years ago, only the pro’s race here! Sunday it’s off to Madison for the Capitol crit, another classic. For race information click here
Tour de Villas. This race exudes 4th of July spirit. Its run through a small neighborhood, where it seems everyone, including the mayor, comes out to cheer you on. The course is not too technical, so it’s great for beginners and experienced racers alike. For details click here
