The first week of the Tour de France typically includes bumps and bruises, and this year, unfortunately, is no different. But starting tomorrow, a new kind of pain will emerge – big climbs! This is when the race really starts to settle in and the GC contenders move into view. So much more fun ahead – stay tuned!!

Sunday ride. This Sunday’s loop is Sylvan Lake – a favorite of mine . The 40 mile ride will depart from Higher Gear Highland Park at 8AM and average 19mph.
Tuesday Women’s ride. This ride departs from HG Wilmette at 9:30AM. The 1.5 hour ride is split into groups based on ability.
Wednesday Women’s ride. We’re back at it this Wednesday after the holiday break. The ride departs from HG HP at 6:30PM and will average above 17mph. Hope to see all the regulars and a few that haven’t been out in a while!
Fredo’s Ride. Join Fredo on a fast paced group ride each Thursday night during the summer. The ride departs from HG Wilmette at 5:30PM and averages 20+mph.
International Cycling Classic. ICC Aka Superweek starts this evening with the Beverly criterium and runs through July 22nd with races in Illinois and Wisconsin. If you haven’t got your racing fix yet, there’s plenty ahead to keep you going. For details click here.

Morton Community Bank Cycling Classic. A great course and plenty of prizes are on the line for this year’s race. The race is the last in the Illinois Cup series, so be sure to head down to score some points! For race details click here.
Ladies Dirt Days – Event #4. Here’s another chance to hit the trails at Palos. Dirt Days are a great way to learn the trails, get in some great riding and hang out with some awesome gals. For information on the event click here.
Wolfgang Freitag Memorial Two Person TT. Don’t want to race in a mass start event, but don’t want to race alone, either? Head out to this two person event and put forth your best team skills. There are new combined categories this year, which should put another twist into the finish possibilities. For event details click here.
Venus de Miles Women’s Ride. Make it your goal to participate in the inaugural Venus de Miles Illinois ride. You can select either a 25 or 61 mile loop for this festive cycling event. Funds from the ride benefit Greenhouse Scholars, which helps under privileged students make their way through college. For details on the event click here.
