We’ve barely come down from our high from the Tour de France, but this year we’ll ride the wave a little longer with the summer Olympics. Cheer on your favorite athletes and be inspired to push yourself to a new level. You have the motivation, below are your options for fulfilling your goals. Get out and ride!
Sunday Ride. Delfino will be leading the Sunday ride this week (with help from Fredo and a few others)! He didn’t have a name for his route, so we made one up – the Libertyville loop. There will be a vote for either a 40 or 60 mile ride. Arrive early so you can cast your vote! The ride will depart from Higher Gear Highland Park at 8am and average 19mph.
Tuesday Women’s ride. This ride departs from HG Wilmette at 9:30AM. The 1.5 hour ride is split into groups based on ability.
Wednesday Women’s ride. Join us for pacelines and group riding skills. The ride departs from HG HP at 6:30PM and will average above 17mph.
Fredo’s Ride. Join Fredo on a fast paced group ride each Thursday night during the summer. The ride departs from HG Wilmette at 5:30PM and averages 20+mph.
Venus de Miles Ride. The inaugural Venus de Miles Women’s ride is this Sunday! The ride routes are 25 and 61 miles. Pamper yourself after the ride with all the options available in the festival area, including manicures and pedicures! There’s still time to register and you can also register on the day of the event. For details, click here.
Sammy’s St Charles Prairie State Criterium. New to the racing circuit, this race promises to be another can’t miss event. For event details, click here.
Madison Racing. This coming Thursday’s track racing is sponsored by state representative, Elaine Nekritz. The featured event is the Madison, a race in which teams of two take turns in the field. The exchange from one rider to the next is done by the exiting rider flinging his/her partner back into the field. It’s quite exciting! Don’t miss out on your opportunity to race or spectate. For details click here.
Tour of Elk Grove: This is another big event on the racing circuit. For the pro and women’s pro ½ fields, the event is a stage race, listed on the National Race Calendar. The other fields race on the same course, but not as a stage race. For details on all the events, click here.
Two Rivers Road Race. This is a new road race course near Kankakee. There are many categories and the distances are worth the drive! For details, click here.
Women’s Dirt Days #5. This dirt day event is a day before the Palos Meltdown bike race, so it’s a great chance to check out the course or just get in some fun riding with a great bunch of girls.
