Moving Right Along

February has hardly been a slow month for cycling, but everything certainly ramps up in March for the road season. There are clinics, a beginner race series as well as a “pre-season” oldie but goodie series for the beginner to the seasoned rider. Get set, the fun is just about to begin. Half Acre’s Indoor Time Trial – This time trial is being held on a Friday night, so it has the makings of a good competition as well as a festive occasion…. The course is a 5 mile rolling landscape with some nifty prizes set out to be your carrot. The event will also be collecting donations for Dustin Valenta, a bike messenger who was injured in traffic. Illinois Women Cyclists Spring Thaw Icebreaker – Calling all women cycling enthusiasts. Step outside of your lycra gear and spend an evening socializing with other women as passionate about riding as you are. The event will be held on Monday, March 4 at Bangers & Lace in Chicago. Chicago Bike Swap – This event will be more than just your typical bike & parts shopping extravaganza. The event will also include a Racing Panel to provide a look into the racing scene in Chicago. Kenosha Velosport’s 34th Annual Spring Crit Series – Whether you’re new to bike racing or have been around for a few laps, this series is always great to get in a few tune-up races.
