Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there! It’s your weekend to feel extra special and take a little time out for yourself. Whether you’re a new mom or you’re an empty nester, your role will never change. Thanks for all you do, all you’ve given up and all you will continue to do. You’re the best!!
If you’re a cyclist and a mom, this weekend your workout comes first! There are plenty of options, but in Chicago there’s an extra special race on Saturday. Read on and see what’s in store for your weekend.
Monsters of the Midway (MOM) – It’s Mother’s Day weekend, which means its Monsters weekend in Chicago. This race is perfect for beginners and experienced racers alike. The course features long straight-aways and wide open corners, but most likely there’ll be other factors such as wind you have to contend with. Bring your race-ready attitude to make it exciting and fun. For details on the event, click here http://ucvc.uchicago.edu/Monsters.html.
Matt Wittig Memorial Race – Looking for a more varied terrain? Just a smidge over the Wisconsin border is Muskego Park, which hosts the Matt Wittig Memorial race. The course is hilly, but carries plenty of momentum in the right places to take some of the sting out of the climb and keep things competitive. It’s another oldie, but goodie! Opening Night at Northbrook Velodrome – Ready or not, it’s track racing time in Chicago. This Thursday is the opening night for racing at Northbrook. On Monday there will be a preseason social where you can pick up your race number and goody bag and maybe put in a few laps with the Monday night training program.
