The Tour de France is undoubtedly the biggest event in the cycling world. What’s even more important is the opportunity for women to be recognized in the sport and given the same opportunities as the men’s fields. The Giro Rosa, which is the Tour of Italy for women began on June 30th and has been incredibly exciting. Marianne Vos of the Netherlands seems to be unstoppable in whatever discipline she rides and the road is no exception. Vos is currently leading the series, having won several stages. The top US rider is Evelyn Stevens, currently in 4th place! Lauren Hall, whom you might remember from the Vera Bradley Women’s clinic a few years ago, placed 4th in stage 2 and is racing well for the US team. Emily Collins who also helped out with one of our local women’s clinics is also racing in the Giro Rosa.
