Events – This Weekend:
Quad Cities – The summer racing really heats up with this must-do series in the Quad Cities. It’s a 4-race weekend which includes the Burlington road race, the famed “Snake Alley” criterium, Melon City criterium and the flat and fast Quad Cities criterium. ABD Master’s Series – For master’s racers who want to stick close to home for the holiday weekend, thecriterium series inWood Dale satisfies racing and staying local. The courses are located in an industrial park and offer some technical aspects as well as some slight changes in elevation. They’re always a lot of fun! For details on the races, clickhere.
Milwaukee Mile – You may not be able to race in the Indy 500 this weekend, but you can race your bike on the Milwaukee Mile, a race car track in Wisconsin. The course is a 1.9 mile loop, which includes the historical car track. For details on the event, clickhere.
Chicago Velo Campus – This Sunday’s race schedule is individual timed events. This is a great opportunity to sharpen your track cycling techniques and speed, and if you’re a little nervous about racing at the CVC, this is a great chance to get your feet wet. For details on the races, click here.
Mosh Criterium –Touted as a technical criterium, this course is a .8 mile loop with both left and right turns. For details on the event, click here.
Bike the Drive – This annual event draws thousands of riders to the famed Lakeshore Drive. It’s a chance to pedal your way down the magnificent roadway at your own pace and enjoy the spectacular scenery. For details on the event, click here.
LAPT/Trek Midwest Road Race – Located just north of Kettle Moraine, this road race promises to be challenging and scenic. For details on the event, click here.
Glencoe Grand Prix –This event is top notch when it comes to course, competition and event. The course is technical and the elevation changes add to the challenge. The event draws local and national talent, so be sure to have your game face on come race day. For event details, click here.
Cobb Park Criterium – There’s a lot of history in this race course. Back in the day, professionals from the 7-11 cycling team competed here. It’s located along the Kankakee River and has several technical turns. For more information, click here.
Women’s Track Cycling Clinic at the CVC– Mark your calendar for next month’s women’s track cycling clinic at the Chicago Velo Campus. The clinic includes track certification as well as the basics of track riding and racing. For more information or to register, click here.
Two Day WCA Clinic and Ride – Are you new to racing or a veteran looking for a few tips to improve your game? Head out to this women’s racing clinic where top level riders will share their knowledge of the art of bike racing. The second day is a WCA fundraising ride.
