This past Tuesday was Chicago’s viewing of the professional women’s cycling documentary, “Half the Road”. It was a sold-out show and I was in the company of many of my fellow racers; men and women. The documentary highlighted the inequality in our sport such as lack of funding and equal pay. But more disappointing was listening to head of the UCI say that he believes women aren’t physically capable of completing an event like the Tour de France. Really?! On the positive side, the women who were interviewed are truly inspiring. Some are as tough as nails, with a nothing’s going to hold me back attitude. Very badass! Let’s not let their efforts be in vain. Get out there, participate, challenge yourself and push to limits you don’t know exist! Make it known that you belong and you want to see, hear and compete in women’s cycling events.
With that said, here’s what’s happening around here J
