It’s a no excuses week in Chicagoland! With all sorts of cycling activities ahead, there’s sure to be something that’s perfect for you. For commuters, there’s Chicago’s Bike to Work Week, which includes everything from a commuter challenge to movies to a rally in Daley Plaza. For everyone else, there are clinics, a road race, track races and time trials. The weather’s going to be perfect, so don’t waste a minute and get out and ride!
While there’s plenty going on around here, there’s also a big stage race going on in Minnesota. This race is tough and it is sure to test an athlete’s strength, skill and endurance. Events – This Weekend:
O’Fallon Grand Prix – You’ll practically be in St. Louis, but you’ll be racing for Illinois glory. This two-part series includes a 13.1 time trial and a road race. The road race is the Illinois State race, so if you’re looking to capture the jersey, you’ll need to head down south. For details on the event, click here.
Scarlet Fire 30K TT – This is a tried and true time trial course, located in Garden Prairie, IL. Points will also be awarded for the Pave Liga series. For details on the event, click here.
Women’s Track Cycling Clinic at the CVC– Curious about the Chicago Velo Campus? This is the perfect opportunity to check out the facilities and experience the thrill of riding on a 50 degree banked track! The clinic includes track certification as well as the basics of track riding and racing. For more information, click here.
WCA Clinic– Are you new to racing or a veteran looking for a few tips to improve your game? Head out to the women’s racing clinic where top level riders will share their knowledge of the art of bike racing. The second day is a WCA fundraising ride. For details on the two day event, click here.
2014 Midwest Sprinters Dream – Enjoy the short fast races? Head out to the Northbrook Velodrome for this sprinter’s series which includes the flying 200, match sprints, the chariot and a 4 lap scratch. For more information, click here.
Wisconsin State Criterium Championship – If technical is what you’re looking for, then head north to Wisconsin to fulfill your racing appetite. It’s an eight corner crit with left and right turns. For details on the event, click here.
Tour of America’s Dairyland – In just a few short years, this series has become a huge success. The promoters really go out of their way to put on a professional series, which includes some great courses throughout the state of Wisconsin. For details on the event, click here.
Team Apache 40K Time Trial – It’s the ABR Illinois State time trial championship in Paw Paw, ILL. Get your game face on and challenge yourself to this hour-ish race. For details on the event, click here.
