This weekend is all about racing local. We’re keeping it green with no need to travel long distance this to have all sorts of cycling fun. From rides to races, Chicago has you covered this weekend. See the details below for all your options.
Women’s Dirt Days # 4 – This is the 4th and final dirt day’s event for this summer. If you’ve been unable to attend in the past, don’t miss out this time! This event will be held at Palos, so it’s easy to get to and the trails are fun and great for gaining technical skills. For details on the event, click here.
Wood Dale Criterium – This is a fun course that’s used a few times each year, mostly for master’s races. This time it’s for the ABR Illinois State Criterium championships. As crits go, this course isn’t very technical. There are a few sweeping turns and one not-so-technical corner, but it’s great fun. For information on the event, click here.
Villa Park Grand Prix – This race is all kinds of good! It’s your basic 4 corner crit that’s close to home. There are also 3 women’s races, so depending on your category, you might have the chance to race several times. For details on the event, click here.
CVC Race Series #7 – This week’s feature race is a 100 lap points race. If you’re looking for some endurance racing, this is your event. For more information, click here.
Wisconsin State TT Championship – This race is the third in the Bong Series Trilogy. It’s two laps on the course, competing for the Wisconsin State jersey. If you’re from Illinois, you can’t compete for the jersey, but you can still go for the win and great competition. For more information, click here.
Edwardsville Rotary Criterium – It’s a bit of a jog to get to this race, as it’s located about 30 minutes east of St. Louis. The course is flat with 8 corners and is shaped like a bowtie. With big prize money on the line, it’s sure to be fast! For information on the event, click here.
Belleville Bicycle Race – Since you’re making the trip to the St. Louis area, plan to stay for the whole weekend and race both days. Belleville is a short drive from Edwardsville and is hosting a crit. The course has 7 corners and looks to be a fun event. For details, click here.
Bloomington Criterium – Central Illinois is host to this year’s USAC Illinois State Criterium championship. This is an exciting course that’s a little bit technical and not so flat. The goal on this course is to use your momentum and then enjoy the downhill. Don’t miss out! For details on the event, click here.
Venus de Miles –Last call for the Venus de Miles ride, which is this Saturday. This all-women ride(s) departs from Lake Forest. Proceeds from the ride benefit the Greenhouse Scholars, so it’s a great ride with an even better cause! After the ride there’s a great post ride party with all sorts of pampering. Skirts in the Dirt – This is Michigan’s first ever women’s mountain bike race and expo. The race is open to all categories of riders and there is a skills clinic as well. If you’re looking for a little off-road fun, this may be just the ticket! For details on the event, click here.
