Last weekend it was all about keeping it local. This week, you can train local, but if you want to race, you’ll have to head out of town. If you’re looking for the challenge of a criterium, head south and make it a double header weekend in southern Illinois. For those interested in the race of truths, you’ll need to head north near Madison, Wisconsin for a challenging time trial. Whatever your choice, get out and have fun!
Edwardsville Rotary Criterium – It’s a bit of a jog to get to this race, as it’s located about 30 minutes east of St. Louis. The course is flat with 8 corners and is shaped like a bowtie. With big prize money on the line, it’s sure to be fast! For information on the event, click here.
Belleville Bicycle Race – Since you’re making the trip to the St. Louis area, plan to stay for the whole weekend and race both days. Belleville is a short drive from Edwardsville and is hosting a crit. The course has 7 corners and looks to be a fun event. For details, click here.
Kirke Vie Time Trial – This is not your typical time trial course. There are several turns and changes in elevation, which should add a degree of difficulty to this 20K race. The race is located near Madison, Wisconsin. For race information, click here.
Bloomington Criterium –This is a fantastic race course and it‘s host to this year’s USAC Illinois State Criterium championships. That should be incentive enough, but the promoter is offering an equal prize purse to the women’s open field – if they reach 15 pre-registered riders. Come on ladies! Relay Cross – It’s a taste of what’s ahead in cross season. The main cross series; Chicross Cup, doesn’t’ begin for another month, but there’s no time like the present to get out and test your skills. Get your partner and get ready prepare to ride, hop and run! For more information, click here.
Skirts in the Dirt – This is Michigan’s first ever women’s mountain bike race and expo. The race is open to all categories of riders and there is a skills clinic as well. If you’re looking for a little off-road fun, this may be just the ticket! For details on the event, click here.
