Labor Day Weekend

I don’t know how it happened, but suddenly it’s the end of summer. For some this signals the final stretch of the racing season, while others are gearing up for an entirely new one. Whatever your game, there’s still lots of fun ahead.

Events:

Gateway Cup – St Louis offers up the last round of heavy-hitter races for the summer. The four day series kicks off on today with the classic nighttime race in Lafayette Square. It’s a four corner crit, which is made a bit more challenging by the shadows in-between the darkness and light! The other three races are all in historic areas around St Louis, but become a bit more technical and challenging as the days go on. For information on all the races, click here.

Cherry Valley 20K Time Trial – Head out to the Rockford area for this 20K challenge. There are two turns and one turnaround, making it a relatively fast course.  For details on the event, click here.

Coming Up:

ABR Team Time Trial –Whether you’re new to cycling or a seasoned competitor, this event is epitome of teamwork and skills. Basic handling skills such drafting and echeloning are essential to this event as well as communicating with your teammates. If done well, this can be one of the most challenging, yet rewarding races. Get your friends together for race day, which is September 7. For details on the event, click here.

Harmon Hundred – Looking to get in some non-competitive miles while it’s still warm? Join the Wheeling Wheelmen for the 45th annual Harmon Hundred. It’s a fully supported event with 25, 50, 62, 75 and 100 routes. For information on the ride(s), click here.

Women’s Events:

Women’s & Trans’ Cyclocross Clinic – Cross season is on the horizon and if you want to get in on all the action, but have no experience, this clinic is for you. The clinic is next Saturday in Horner Park. For more information and to register, click here.

Junior Girls Cyclo-Cross Clinc – Our local Chicago Cuttin Crew is teaming up with the organizer of the Trek CX Cup to provide the opportunity for young girls to learn about cyclo-cross racing! It’s an amazing opportunity to learn from the best women in the sport. Pass this along to all future cyclists and help continue to grow our sport!! For details, click here.

Have a safe and happy holiday weekend!st louis arch
