Wishing all moms a very happy Mother’s Day. Make time to enjoy your big day and may it include your favorite sport, cycling! Take a look below for all your upcoming cycling activities.
Monsters of the Midway – It’s Mother’s Day weekend and it’s time for Monsters of the Midway (MOM). The course is located on the Midway Plaisance on the University of Chicago campus. This annual race is a favorite among local riders. The course features long straight-aways and wide open corners and since the course is so close to the lakefront, wind is always a factor! For details on the event, click here.
Muskego Park Criterium –This is one of my favorite courses. Like many classic Wisconsin races, this is held in a park and the course travels the perimeter. There is one sweeping turn at the bottom of a hill, but it’s not too technical. There is a two-step uphill, but it’s not too tough and makes the racing exciting. For more information, click here.
Annual Cyclofemme Ride – If you’re looking for an enjoyable ride that’s not too fast, has plenty of good conversation and allows you time to enjoy the scenery, this Mother’s Day ride is just for you! The ride will depart from BFF Bikes on Armitage in the City. For ride details, click here.
Thursday Night Track Racing – Opening night for the 2015 track racing season at the Ed Rudolph Velodrome in Northbrook is Thursday, May 14! There will also be a pre-season social and bike swap on Monday, May 11. Come out, pick up your race number, see if there are any good deals, hang out with your favorite riders and get ready for the racing to begin. CWEC Development Clinic Series Events #4–6–We have a full line-up of events in conjunction with the Fox River Grove Omnium (May 15, 16 & 17) including a Meet n Greet with Alison Powers on Friday night, Vision skills clinic on Saturday, and a Follow-Up Discussion with Alison on Sunday. For details on Saturday’s Vision clinic, click here. For details on all the CWEC FRG events, click here.
Fox River Grove Omnium – This three day series includes a fast twilight crit on Friday night. Saturday’s a somewhat technical course, which includes a fast downhill/uphill combo. Sunday’s race is for the mountain goats, with a repeat of a long uphill and downhill, lap after lap! For information on the FRG series, click here.
Wheel & Sprocket Criterium – You’ll have to travel a bit to get to this race from Chicago, but if you’re into flat, fast and not-too technical courses, it may be worth the drive. For race information, click here.
Kenosha Velosport Silver Lake Criterium – This race is labeled a crit, but it’s more like a circuit course. It’s a scenic 1.5 mile loop with rolling hills, and a few technical spots. For race details, click here.
Have a great weekend!
