There’s a full line-up of cycling events this weekend beginning this evening with the East Dundee Shootout which, is part of the Fox River Grove Omnium series. From clinics to time trial to courses of varying terrain, we’ve got you covered this weekend. Read on for all the details.
CWEC Development Clinic Series Events #4–6–We have a full line-up of events in conjunction with the Fox River Grove Omnium this weekend beginning with a Meet n Greet with Alison Powers this evening, a Vision skills clinic on Saturday, and a Follow-Up Discussion with Alison on Sunday. Fox River Grove Omnium – This three day series includes a fast twilight crit this evening. Saturday’s a somewhat technical course, which includes a fast downhill/uphill combo. Sunday’s race is for the mountain goats, with a repeat of a long uphill and downhill, lap after lap! For information on the FRG series, click here.
Wheel & Sprocket Criterium – You’ll have to travel a bit to get to this race from Chicago, but if you’re into flat, fast and not-too technical courses, it may be worth the drive. For race information, click here.
Kankakee 20K TT – If you’re looking to improve on your time trial skills, this is a great course. It’s relatively flat and not too technical, except for one tight spot as you cross over a narrow bridge. It’s a great place to focus on going fast! For race information, click here.
Kenosha Velosport Silver Lake Criterium – This race is labeled a crit, but it’s more like a circuit course. It’s a scenic 1.5 mile loop with rolling hills, and a few technical spots. For race details, click here.
Memorial Day Weekend Master’s Crit Series – This is a great master’s series that’s close to home but provides great racing action for the entire weekend. All three races are in the same complex, but have a slightly different course each day. For series information, click here.
Bike the Drive – Looking for a fun cycling event where there’s no pressure to compete and the goal is just to have a good time and enjoy the scenery? Head out to this annual ride where you’re treated to a ride on Chicago’s Lake Shore Drive! For event details, click here.
CWEC Development Series Event #7 –It’s the final event in our clinic series and we’re teaming up with riders from the Pepper Palace professional team to help you learn skills and tactics which will be essential to the Glencoe Grand Prix. For clinic details, click here.
For the Love of Mud – Come out to see a great cyclo-cross movie at the Logan Theater and raise money for the Big Marsh park. It’s 278 acres of open space on the south side of the city. The goal is to make the space an eco-friendly outdoor recreation destination. Come out for a fun evening and help make this project a success. For event information, click here.

Midwest Women’s Road Race Championships – Plan ahead to head out to this spectacular women’s race. Make it your goal to come home with the Midwest Road Racing Champions jersey. The course is a 14.6 mile loop with a short uphill kicker, sweeping rollers and flat sections through the farmlands of Ohio. It also includes sections once used in the 1980 Olympic qualifying event, which featured three-time Tour de France winner, Greg LeMond. The course starts in the small town of Zanesfield Ohio and also goes through the quaint village of Alexandria. For race information, click here.
