Memorial Day Weekend


As we head into the unofficial start of summer, there’s no shortage of cycling events to fill your holiday weekend. From crits to road races and fun rides, you’re covered! Now, if the weather cooperates, we should be doing great. Check the listing below for all the cycling events in our area.


Memorial Day Weekend Races –There’s a lot of great racing and tradition in this holiday weekend of racing in the Quad Cities. The series stars off with a road race on Friday, followed by the infamous Snake Alley Criterium on Saturday, the Melon City Criterium on Sunday and the flat and fast Quad Cities Criterium on Monday. Memorial Day Weekend Master’s Crit Series – This master’s series is close to home and offers great racing action for the entire weekend. All three races are in the same complex, but have a slightly different course each day. For series information, click here.

Palmyra Road Race – There are not too many road races, so if you’re looking for something other than a crit, this race is perfect for you. It’s a 23 mile loop in scenic and hilly southern Wisconsin. For race information, click here.

MOSH Criterium – Located just west of Milwaukee, this race course packs a lot of punch in a .8 mile loop. There are both left and right hand turns and 50 feet of climbing each lap. For race information, click here.

Concordia University Criterium – Can’t get your fill of crits, no worries, the Concordia crit is located on the university campus and it’s just north of Milwaukee. For race information, click here.

Bike the Drive – Looking for a fun cycling event where there’s no pressure to compete and the goal is just to have a good time and enjoy the scenery? Head out to this annual ride where you’re treated to a ride on Chicago’s Lake Shore Drive! For event details, click here.

Coming Up:

CWEC Development Series Event #7 –It’s the final event in our Development series and we’re teaming up with riders from the Pepper Palace professional team to help you learn skills and tactics which will be essential for racing well at Glencoe Grand Prix. For clinic details, click here.

Glencoe Grand Prix – This race draws riders from near and far to compete, as it is part of USA Crits Championship series. The course is technical and fast with a bit of an elevation change. Come out and race and then stay for all the festivities. For event details, click here.

Cobb Park Criterium – This year’s Illinois State Criterium Championships will be held in Cobb Park in Kankakee. This is a classic course with loads of history, including having several Tour de France riders compete here, back in the day! It has some technical corners as it loops around the park and through the neighborhood. For race details, click here.

For the Love of Mud – Come out to see a great cyclo-cross movie at the Logan Theater and raise money for the Big Marsh park. It’s 278 acres of open space on the south side of the city. The goal is to make the space an eco-friendly outdoor recreation destination. Come out for a fun evening and help make this project a success. For event information, click here.
