There’s a beautiful forest preserve in the near west suburbs of Chicago, and it has a past! The Palos forest preserve was once the location for nuclear testing during World War II, thus the name of the mountain bike race, the Palos Meltdown. The area is clear of any radioactive activity and it’s a beautiful place to hang out and of course, ride a bike. This weekend you can get in a little history lesson and spend some time in the great outdoors. Check below for the Meltdown as well as other great cycling events.
