You probably won’t feel all that brave for heading out to ride this weekend. Instead, you can feel lucky to be enjoying warm weather in December. Don’t waste this precious outdoor time and be sure to get out and ride. See below for events in our area.
Braver than the Elements Ride Chicago – Join women around the globe in this annual Rapha ride. Rides are planned throughout North America, Asia and Europe. The goal is to get women to embrace riding in weather conditions they once considered too extreme. Our Chicago ride will be departing from 2959 N. Lincoln Ave and will head north to the Skokie Lagoons. The ride is just shy of 50 miles and women of all abilities are encouraged to participate. There’ll be fun and food! Morning Bird Studio Holiday Party – Come out to celebrate, almost the end of the cycling season, at the Morning Bird Studio. There’ll be food, drinks, various competitions and a fundraiser for the Chicago Women’s Elite Cycling team (CWEC). Celebrate & support your local racing friends. For more information, click here.
Miller Chill Cyclocross – This race is held in one of Bloomington’s best known parks, Miller Park. The course features paved sections, sand, woods and a bridge, which is used as a flyover. It’s about a 2 hour drive to this event, and it’ll be a smaller, but fun race. For more information, click here.
Afterglow – The main cross season may be over, but the fun continues, especially for those addicted to this sport. The Afterglow race is always competitive, but a bit lighthearted. The race course is located in the city on the Douglas Park Golf Course and features sand traps, off camber berms and other little technical challenges. Proceeds from the race go to the youth programs at Blackstone Bicycle Works and West Town Bikes, so it’s an event you can feel good about doing. For race information, click here.
Have a great weekend!
