The holiday season is upon us with parties and get-togethers, which makes keeping a strict training schedule pretty tough. You can still enjoy the season and maintain your fitness, but you may have to get a little creative. You can do it, and you’ll be much happier if you make the effort! If you’re looking for one more competitive event before the year is over, you’re in luck with the Afterglow race this weekend. Read below for more details.

Events:

Afterglow – The main cross season may be over, but the fun continues, especially for those addicted to this sport. The Afterglow race is always competitive, but a bit lighthearted. The race course is located in the city on the Douglas Park Golf Course and features sand traps, off camber berms and other little technical challenges. Proceeds from the race go to the youth programs at Blackstone Bicycle Works and West Town Bikes, so it’s an event you can feel good about doing. For race information, click here.

Coming up:

National Cyclo-Cross Championships – This year’s national championships for cyclo-cross will be held in Asheville, North Carolina. The series will be held from January 5th through the 10th.and events will include non-championship races, juniors, masters, U23 and elites. Good luck to all those from our area who will continue to train to meet the goal of competing on a national level. For information on the event, click here.

Annual Women’s Dinner – Plan ahead to attend the annual women’s dinner. It’s always a great time to catch up with your favorite racers and riders, enjoy an amazing dinner catered by Kathy Corbett and go home with an award reflective of your seasons accomplishments.
