Cyclo-Cross National Championships

It’s all about national championships this week. The stage for this series is on the grounds of the Biltmore Estate in Ashville, North Carolina. Such an amazing setting, most would never imagine would be a championship course for cyclo-cross. The course includes some flat sections, a pass through a barn, a flyover and some steep elevation we’re not accustomed to in the Midwest.
Back home the weather is a bit of a roller-coaster, so your cycling activities may need to be inside, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty to do. Check below for this weekend’s options.
National Cyclo-Cross Championships –It’s been a successful week so far for Chicagoans competing in the cyclo-cross championships. Dani Arman took the top spot in the 23-34 non championship race on Tuesday and others have had top finishes in their fields. There’s still more to come for our racers, including Dani. Irish National Cyclo-Cross Championships – It’s all about nationals this week, but for Maria Larkin, it’s the Irish National Championships. Maria calls Chicago home, now, but she is from Ireland and she’s gearing up for the big race on Sunday. Last year she took silver and we’re hoping for a repeat or better this time around. Brazen Dropouts Bike Swap – It’s short notice, but if you don’t have plans for tomorrow, then you should plan to head to Madison for this annual event. If you’re looking for some new-to-you equipment or that hard to find component, the bike swap is the place to go. Get there early to find the best equipment, stay late for the best deals. ABD Indoor Time Trial Series – Event #1 – It’s that time of year again! When the conditions outside are cold and snowy, the solution to keep race-ready is to compete in this annual indoor race series. The first event features a 10K flat course, which means you just pour out steady power for as long as it takes. Each of the indoor courses is held at the Winfield Central High School.
