Planning Your Cycling Season

The weekend’s warm weather should have you dreaming of the upcoming road racing season. The season is closer than you think, with spring races coming in just a few weeks. Have you made a list of your goals for the season? Do you know how to plan and train for your goals? Help is here with a season planning clinic put on by the CWEC. See the details below for the clinic and other fun cycling activities.

Events:

Winter Bike Swap – In its 6th year, this annual bike swap offers up a bit of a twist to the traditional bike swap. It’s held at Jaks Tap in the west loop and there’ll be bikes, gear, socializing and networking with a good representation from all parts of the cycling community. CWEC Clinic Series Event #1 – Looking to have a successful cycling season? That takes goals and planning. If you’re looking for help in the process, attend this “Planning a Season” clinic tomorrow at Ancien Cycles. The clinic will begin at 3PM. For information, click here.

ABD Indoor Time Trial Series Race #3 – It’s back to a flat 10K course, which will be great for those able to push a big gear and might be challenged a bit by going uphill. Keep building your fitness and your overall points in the MATT’s series! For race information, click here.

Coming up:

Winter Bike Art Show Closing Party – Attend the closing party for this year’s Winter Bike Art Show. The party is next Friday, February 26. For details on the event, click here.

Hugh Jass Fat Bike Series Event VII – The finale for this lighthearted fat tire bike race series is next Saturday. This race will be held at the Riverview Gardens in Appleton, Wisconsin, so plan ahead for a little road trip to race along the river. For details on the event, click here.

Intent Indoor Time Trial Series #4 – This is the fourth of five indoor races in this series. If you’re going for the overall, you need to participate in at least three events, so be sure to plan on heading out next weekend to guarantee your spot in the overall. Event #4 will feature a 20K course with rolling hills. For more information on the event, click here.

Plan Ahead:

Women’s Weekend at Ray’s – This year’s event is the first weekend in March. Reserve your spot now for a fun weekend of indoor mountain biking with coaching and tips from Leigh Donovan and her team. There’s something for every level and Ray’s is a great place to practice, practice, practice! For information and registration, click here.
