Spring Crits Begin

We spring forward this weekend with the time change. That means a little more light at the end of our day and a chance to spend more time riding outside in the evening. Yay! The weather is also cooperating this weekend and with the first of the outdoor races, we should see full fields of riders. Whether you race or ride, there’s no shortage of activities to keep you busy. Check below for options in our area.

Higher Gear’s Loveblood Indoor Time Trial – This indoor time trial changes things up a bit. Instead of riding a particular distance, this race is all about how much you can ride in twenty minutes. There’ll be prizes and a party and you can feel good about participating, as proceeds from the race go to fund research for blood cancers. For information on the event, click here.

Kenosha Velodrome Swap Meet – The newly resurfaced velodrome to our north needs a little more help to get the 2016 season off to a good start. Come out to the swap meet on Sunday and find great deals, and help fund the final projects for Kenosha’s 2016 season. For information on the event, click here.

Kenosha Velosport Spring Training Criteriums – Spring doesn’t officially begin for another week or so, but spring is definitely in the air as this series begins. In its 37th year, this series has helped many riders get their road season off to a good start. The first race of the series is on Sunday. For series information, click here.

ABD Indoor Time Trial Series Event #4 – This is the final indoor race of the series, with the final race being held outdoors in Maple Park. Event #4 features a 10K rolling course, so high power to weight numbers are a bonus! For race information, click here.

Intent Indoor Time Trial Series Event #5 – This week’s 15k course will not be revealed until race day, so you’ll just have to focus on pacing at your limit. For race information, click here.

Zion Fatty Spring Fling – Well there isn’t any snow to plow through, but a fat bike isn’t just good in the snow, it’s also great in the sand. For a fun adventure on the beach, head north to Zion for this non- competitive event. There are 8 and 20 mile routes and if you don’t have a fat bike, you can rent one! For information on the event, click here.

Coming up:

St Patrick’s Day Ride – With the great weather we’ve been having, the St Patrick’s Day ride is your ticket to a scenic outdoor adventure! There are 16, 20 and 36 mile ride loops, so a little something for everyone. For post ride festivities, they’ll have the Acoustic Soul Generations band playing. Come out for this non-competitive and fun ride. For ride information, click here.

Plan Ahead:

Skyway Classic Criterium Series – Attention all new racers! Come out to this annual bike race series which is designed to give you lots of experience in the great sport of bike racing. You’ll be immersed in bike racing for four days straight, but it’s low key and low cost, so if you’re interested in racing, this is a must. For series information, click here.

CWEC’s Clinic Series Event #2 – In conjunction with the Skyway Series, the CWEC will have a course recon event. Riders should meet at the Edge Athletes Lounge and a group will ride down to the race course. For information on the clinic, click here.

Have a great weekend!
