There’s no fooling around on the first day of April. Time to get excited about your cycling and all this season has to offer. The Illinois outdoor season begins this week with the Skyway Classic and things just keep rolling after that. Check the information below for cycling events in our area.
CWEC’s Clinic Series Event #2 – Saturday at 8AM, in conjunction with the Skyway Series, the CWEC will have a course recon event. Riders should meet at the Edge Athletes Lounge and a group will ride down to the race course at Calumet Park and practice skills to get you ready for the series and racing in general. Kenosha Velosport Spring Training Criteriums – This is the third and final race of the series. The course is not too technical, with just one somewhat tight corner. For series information, click here.
Skyway Classic Criterium Series – Ready or not, the four day Skyway Classic Series begins on Monday! Whether you’re new to racing or trying to earn upgrade points, this series is a must. For series information, click here.
John Fraser Memorial Time Trial – This is the fifth and final event of this series and its outdoors! The 10 mile course is held in Maple Park, and although it’s flat, there’s always wind to contend with. If you’re interested, sign up soon to get a good start time. For race information, click here.
Spring Super Criterium – Do you feel the need for speed? Plan to head out to Blackhawk Farms Raceway and speed away in next weekend’s race. The course is wide open but has a couple of twists and turns. Aside from racing, the track offers a few perks not typical to most races. There are indoor bathrooms with showers and a place to grab a snack – yes!! For race details, click here.
Skills & Handling Clinic – In conjunction with the Super Crit, the CWEC will be hosting a race day clinic. Learn skills and drills to help you become more confident on the bike to better handle any situation that comes your way. For clinic information, click here.
Women’s Track Cycling Clinic Track racing begins mid-May at the Ed Rudolph velodrome. If you’re interested in racing or learning about track racing, this clinic is perfect. You’ll learn the basics of the track and riding a fixed gear bike. The clinic also includes some mock racing. Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 23. For information, click here.
