We’ve crossed the midway point in September and the riding options are noticeably different from just a few weeks ago. For the racers, we’re charging into cyclo-cross season and for those looking to wind down from a busy road racing season or for the recreational rider, there are lots of century ride options. Check below for local options.
Trek CX Cup – It’s a big cross weekend in Waterloo, with events on Friday, Saturday and Sunday! Today they’ll have a clinic for women category 4 and junior riders. Tomorrow and Sunday the racing gets underway with both UCI and amateur level races. It’s an action-packed weekend from start to finish! For event information, click here.
Fall Fling – This series wraps up the local criterium racing for the season. If you’ve still got some road racing left in you, head out to this series in the western suburbs. The series consists of three criteriums and one time trial, held over two weekends. For series information, click here.
Northshore Century – A local favorite for this time of the year! This fully supported ride begins in Evanston, and riders can choose from 25 50, 62 and 100 miles – which will get you all the way to Kenosha and back. For ride information, click here.
Jingle Cross – The 2016 cyclo-cross season is getting off to a blazing start with back-to-back UCI races. The second of the heavy hitters is Jingle Cross, which is typically held in late November. There may be a little less ho-ho-ho this year, but the racing will be just as spectacular. For event information, click here.
Fall Fling Continues– The series continues this weekend with one more criterium and a time trial. Saturday’s race is labeled a circuit course, as it is the longest of the three criteriums. The time trial is 9.5 miles with two 180 degree turns, so it’ll be fast and a little technical. For series information, click here.
Apple Cider Century – In its 43rd year, this century ride highlights the beautiful roads of southwest Michigan. There are multiple route options, including flat routes or hilly routes. It’s a fully supported event and of course, there’ll be apple cider! Registration closes soon, for event information, click here.
Have a great weekend!
