Chicago Cubs and the Blues Brothers

blues-bros-cubs

It’s a history making weekend in Chicago with the Cubs hosting their first World Series game in seventy one years. The city is buzzing with excitement and hope for a long-awaited win. How fitting is the timing of the World Series and the first race up for the weekend – Rhythm and Blues, a true Chicago connection. We’ve got another great weekend of weather ahead and so much to celebrate. Get out and have fun!

Events: –

Rhythm & Blues Revue –Before heading to the Cubs game, Jake and Elwood will probably be in Evanston to take park in the annual Rhythm & Blues cross race. The course is located at the Canal Shores Golf Course in Evanston, so it’s just a short ride from Wrigley. The event includes a kid’s ride and Specialized will be on hand with a demo fleet. There’s plenty of fun for everyone. For more information, click here.

Halloween Cylclocross Classic – Head out to this holiday-themed race located in Milwaukee’s Washington Park, which is an eco-friendly urban oasis. Race hard and then chill in the park and explore the Urban Ecology Center after. For event information, click here.

Chicross Cup Event #6 – This week the series heads to St Charles for Campton Cross. This is one of the original Chicross Cup courses and was once known for its technical elements and elevation changes. Over time, some of the technical elements have been replaced with more power sections, but it remains a series favorite. For race information, click here.

Coming Up:

Wildlife Spooky CX – The Halloween-themed races continue next week at the Wildlife Prairie State Park, near Peoria. This area has a mountain bike/outdoor park, including a pump track, so it seems like the perfect location for a cross course with some technical elements. For race information, click here.

Estabrook Park Beer Garden Classic – This was always one of my favorite courses for cross. It’s located in a Milwaukee park and has some great technical areas as well as some grassy power sections. Head out to race and enjoy free beer and sausage after! For race information, click here.

Chicross Cup Event #7 –Groundhog Psiclocross. Several years back, they filmed the Groundhogs Day movie in Woodstock, so this race is celebrating that connection. In the movie, Bill Murray’s character kept repeating the same day over and over until he got things right. Psimet is taking a somewhat similar approach to this race by continually evolving the course, making it more interesting each year. Head out and see what changes are in store for this year. For race information, click here.

Camrock Cross –This area is well known to mountain bikers, with the Camrock mountain bike race held here earlier in the summer. The park has over 400 acres of land with lots of trails for riding and hiking, so it’s a great place for an interesting cross course. For race information, click here.

Plan Ahead:

Big Marsh Bike Race – Wondering what to do the day after Thanksgiving? Looking to stay away from the shopping mayhem and just enjoy the great outdoors? Head out to the Big Marsh Bike Park and get a preview of the soon-to-be –open city Adventureland. You’ll feel spectacular after racing hard and burning off a few holiday meal calories. For event information, click here.

Have a great weekend!
