Time Change Weekend

We’re jumping ahead with the time change this weekend and our first outdoor pre-season race. There’ll be a chill in the air, but the thrill of racing outside will keep you warm. Get ready to roll, the cycling season is upon us. Check the listings below for local options.

Events:

Kenosha Velosport Spring Training Criterium Series – A sure sign that spring is on its way is the Kenosha Training Criterium Series. Many of us made our entry into the sport by trying a few of these pre-season races. They’re local and low-key, but just enough to get your season started. The first event in this series is this Sunday, and continue the next two Sunday’s. For more information, click here.

Coming Up:

Braver Than The Elements Ride – The weather didn’t cooperate for the Chicago edition of this a few months ago, but we’re on for a spring version next Saturday. The ride will be an out and back loop to Batavia with treats from the Spoke & Bird restaurant before and Big Star tacos for the post ride. For more information or to RSVP, click here.

BFF’s Bike to Beer Ride #1 – Looking for a recreational ride with a twist? Join BFF Bikes as they head to local breweries each month. This month they’ll head to Pipeworks Brewery for a tour. For more information, click here.

St Patrick’s Day Ride – Join the Wheeling Wheelmen in this annual spring event. You can choose from either 16, 20 or 36 mile loops, all starting from the Wauconda High School. The post ride celebration will include entertainment from the Acoustic Soul Generations band. For more information, click here.

ABD Indoor Time Trial Series – Event #4. This is the final indoor event in this series, with the final race being held outside in April. This week’s the race is back to the 10K rolling hills course. For race information or to register, click here.

HAC Women-Trans Gender Neutral Beginner Clinic – Are you interested in racing your bike, but want to cut out some of the learning curve? Make plans to attend this beginner clinic on March 12. They’ll cover a variety of topics including race strategy, cycling gear and more. For more information or to register, click here.

Women’s Track Cycling Clinic – Ever wonder what it’s like to ride a fixed gear bike or ride on a velodrome? Attend this beginner women’s clinic on April 22 at the Ed Rudolph Velodrome and learn everything from the basics to trying your hand at some race strategy.
