Masters Track Nationals & The Holiday Weekend

The 4th of July weekend is upon us, so there are plenty of reasons to celebrate. We’ve got some great summer weather ahead and there are roads and trails to explore. With a few extra days away from the office, be sure to get outside and play. This weekend also marks the start of the 2017 Tour de France, which is known around the world as a premiere cycling event. This year’s race begins in Dusseldorf, Germany and also makes stops in Belgium and Luxemburg before continuing on in France. The race begins on Sunday, July 2nd and continues through Sunday, July 23rd. Get set to watch all the drama unfold. For more information, click here.

Events:

Women’s Dirt Days #3 – This women’s off-road series will head north to Kettle Moraine this weekend. The group will meet at the John Muir trailhead at 9am on Sunday morning. This weekend, more than most, seems like the perfect time to escape to the trails. It’s a holiday weekend and we’re at a point in the road season where an escape to the woods would be great! Track Cycling

Masters Track Nationals – It’s been hot in South Carolina this week, but not just because of the weather. Racers from around the country have gathered to compete in track cycling events that include timed events, match sprints and mass start events. The event will wrap up on Sunday with the team events, which are just as competitive as all the other races, but just a little bit more fun. Several Chicagoans have already collected hardware and with a few more days of racing, we’re hopeful for a few more medals! For information on the event, click here.

Sprinters Dream Omnium Series Event #3 – It’s the final event in this sprinters series. The event begins with flying 200’s to set up pairings for the match sprints. The event will also include the Belgian win and out, a four lap scratch race and time trial record attempts. If you want to fine tune your sprinting and race tactics, this is a great event. Coming Up –

Indy Criterium – You’ll have to head to Indianapolis if you want to race a crit next weekend, but it will be well worth the drive. It’s a fast figure 8 course around monument circle. The race draws riders from around the Midwest and there’s plenty of money and prizes on the line to heat up the competition. For race details, click here.

Hersher Two Person Time Trial – Next weekend’s race is all about teamwork. If you’ve taken part in a team time trial, you already know how rewarding it can be. If you haven’t, than you should make sure to give this event a try. Grab your teammate and choose from either 25K or 50k and plan to work together to maximize your team’s potential.
