Chicross Cup Continues

We welcome in October this weekend and another gorgeous weather-weekend to get outside and have fun. Step outside and capture the amazing sights of fall, breathe in the crisp air and take in the scents that accompany this season. Check the listings below for a few cycling options.

Events:

Al Stern Marathon Road Race – If you’re looking for a generous helping of late season miles, you’ll want to head to Aroma Park on Sunday. The course is flat, but there’s always wind, so you’ll need to be race savvy to be play smart and be competitive. For more information, click here.

Chicross Cup Event #2 – The series is back at it with the Hopkins Park race in DeKalb. This is the furthest you’ll need to travel for a series race, but it’s worth the drive! The course includes gently rolling terrain, a short section of single track and plenty of power sections. For race information, click here.

Coming Up:

Mongo CX – If you’ve ever seen the movie “Blazing Saddles”, your mind will immediately shift to the loveable burly character when you see the name of this race. I’m not sure if there’ll be a Mongo sighting, but, if you’re looking for something other than the local race scene, this may be the race for you. The race is located in McNaughton Park in Pekin. For more information, click here.

Pumpkin Cross – Head to Grafton, Wisconsin if you’re looking for the complete fall festival cross race package. The course includes a big climb, a slalom descent, gravel and more. For post-race fun there’s a food truck, music, beer and of course, pumpkins! For more information, click here.

Chicross Cup Event #3 – This week the race series heads to the Dan Ryan Woods on the city’s south side. For an urban setting, this little oasis provides several natural features that provide technical and challenging aspects on the course. Last year the promoters also introduced a man-made “moat” that provided a bit of water and mud for the racers and plenty of entertainment for spectators. We’ll have to wait and see what’s dreamed up for this year’s course. For race information, click here.

Have a great weekend!
