Someone flipped a switch and in an instant, we have fall! Since it’s nearly November, I guess we should welcome the cooler weather. Although, the potential for frost may change up the course conditions for those racing cross this weekend, especially if you’re up early in the day. Just plan ahead, bring plenty of gear options and make sure you’ve got the correct tire pressure! Lots of great riding and racing options this Halloween weekend. Check the listings below for options.
Cross Fire – This is the WCA’s unofficial Halloween race. The course is located at Angel Park Speedway in Sun Prairie and costumes are highly recommended. For more information, click here.
Chicross Cup Event #6 – This week the series heads to St. Charles for Campton Cross. This course used to be geared for the technically skilled mountain biker, but over time, some of the technical features have been removed, so it’s more power! For more information, click here.
Sun Prairie Cross – You can make it a two-day race weekend in Madison if you stick around for the Sun Prairie Cup in Sheehan Park on Sunday. Both races are part of Wisconsin’s Cup series, so you’ll have a chance to earn points in this two race weekend near Madison. For more information, here.
Bikes to Beer – Looking to enjoy a non-competitive ride on a crisp fall day? Join the crew at BFF Bikes as they head to Mikerphone Brewing in Elk Grove. For those looking to log a few miles, the round trip is 63 miles. If you’re not looking to ride that distance, or if you decide you don’t have it in you for the return trip, there’s an option to take the Metra home. For more information, click here.
Wildlife Spooky CX – The best part of this race may not be the race, but the location where it’s held. Head out to the Wildlife Prairie Park in Hannah City, which is near Peoria. Considered by many to be the jewel of the Midwest, the 2000 acre park is home to 150 animals and its mission is to promote conservation, education and recreation. For more information, click here.
Estabrook Park Beer Garden Cyclo-Cross Classic – This classic cross course is located in a park in Milwaukee. The course offers a full range of technical and power sections to challenge not only the technically skilled, but the power riders as well. Enjoy a beer and sausage after the race, as they are provided to all participants. For more information, click here.
Chicross Cup Event #7 – Next week the series heads to Woodstock for Groundhog Psi-Clocross. This course offers up rolling hills, a bit of wooded single-track and even a sand pit. For more information, click here.
